Description
Solid state class T digital switching stereo power amplifier.
|
The 150.2 has been quite a success since its introduction in the fall of 2003. Rather than being another "me-too" product, the Class-T 150.2 has distinguished itself in its price range by offering new levels of resolution and refinement compared with other amplifiers and with other amplifiers featuring digital switching technology. Music lovers finally have an amplifier that keeps its cool while offering world-class performance. Dealers and consumers then started telling us they would like to see a "big brother" to the 150.2 for those installations requiring even more power. We are pleased to introduce the 300.2 Stereo Power Amplifier, the third member of our Class-T amplifier family. Delivering a robust 300 WPC into 8 ohms and conservative 500 WPC into 4 ohms, the 300.2 will satisfy the need for high power by the most demanding music or home theater listener. The 300.2 has the same connectivity as the 150.2, with switchable BAL and SE inputs, gold-plated brass binding posts, 12V trigger, and a detachable 14 gauge A.C. power cord. Physically, the 300.2 is one inch taller than a 150.2, and the front panel is thicker - the same as on a Ref 2. Handles are available for US$80.00 per pair. The 300.2 maintains the same engaging musical profile as the 150.2, with remarkable purity, a grainless transparency, vivid sound staging, and great dynamics. The bonus is that the 300.2 provides additional weight and authority and a greater sense of ease. Except for its siblings, the 150.2 and 150M, the 300.2 sounds unlike any other amplifier because it marries the best musically-involving qualities of great tube designs with the authority and control of the best solid state designs, easily handling the toughest loads or the most inefficient speakers without strain. And, with its high efficiency, the 300.2 produces little heat, making it perfect for in-cabinet installations. When you hear this amplifier you will appreciate what a great value it represents. The addition of the 300.2 creates a strong family of next-generation amplifiers from Audio Research, offering superb performance and great drive capability for your music or home theater system. |
